Roadtrip Guide: A Fun Weekend in Alsace and Beyond
Graham and I had planned a very short weekend in Colmar, a small city in Eastern France in the Alsace region. (An unbelievably quick 2.5 hour train ride away from Gare de l'Est)
We arrived early at 9:30 am, dropped off our bag at the hotel, and set off to discover France's "Little Venice". Though the town was much smaller than we expected, it was far more picturesque than we could have ever imagined.
We loved discovering all the colorful architecture and even happened on Bartholdi's home - the Statue of Liberty's architect. However, I quickly realized we wouldn't have enough to do for two full days, so we decided to rent a car for Sunday. I spent time mapping out a fun road trip that would take us to 5 different countries...
So Sunday morning we took off from France to Switzerland to Lichtenstein to Austria and back cutting through Germany. Our stops included Lucerne in Switzerland, Vaduz in Liechtenstein, and Feldkirch in Austria. It was one of the most spur of the moment days we've ever had and we loved every minute of it!
